The one thing I'm really noticing about these girls is their communication skills have really picked up! When I start to sing "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands!" they start beaming from ear to ear and automatically start clapping their hands. They know exactly what to do and I don't have to show them! They also have their own way of telling me when they want water, or when they want a snack. I do feel like a baby whisperer at times when they just look at me and I know exactly what they want. I love that.
But the cute thing I'm really noticing about these girls is their own unique way of communicating. When communicating with each other, they have their own jibberish words, but most of the time, their means of communicating is by laughing! They will look at each other and just LAUGH!! It's like they are talking to each other, only they just laugh! The funniest is at bath time....when one has soap in her hair, the other just looks at her and LAUGHS!! It makes me laugh just thinking about it.
Their other unique way of communicating comes in the form of two syllable words. They both now say "Ni Ni" for night night. They now say "Nay Nen" for "Amen" at the end of a prayer. And, they shake their head "No" when they don't want something I'm trying to give (feed) them. Usually it's when they already have food in their mouth that they haven't swallowed and I'm trying to feed them the next bite too soon. I love it!
But, the funny thing that I've been noticing is that they have both started mimicking my words through my tone and by just saying "da da". Everything - I mean everything - is "da da". I'll say a two syllable word and they just look at me and smile and repeat it with "da da". No girls, it's not daddy, it's ___(whatever the two syllable word is I'm trying to get them to say), and they just smile and say again "da da".
They are hilarious. They know who Da da is and they know they are calling him by name when they say Da da to him. They also know how to say Ma ma and do so usually when they want something. "Ma maaaaah". It's so funny. But the funniest is seeing how their little ears hear words and repeat them with "da da". I can't wait for them to start really repeating the words, because just hearing them say "Ni Ni" when it's time to go to bed, and "Nay nen" at the end of a prayer is melting my heart in two.

Hi! I just wanted to let you know I check your blog regularly and I love hearing about the girls. This entry was particularly precious. I love that they say "Nay nen" after prayer! Really can't wait to see them again, whenever that may be. Kameron and I are pretty much definitely going to be able to go to the family reunion this summer, so I hope you guys will be there. Keep in touch!
