Night and Day
Today the girls got to go do a little shopping with their Aunt Ro Ro. At 5 years old, the girls differing personalities shine loud and clear! They each got to pick something out....I like to call these girls Night, and, Day. Madeline picked the running outfit, Savannah picked the dress. Love you two!!

Separation Anxiety
This morning Madeline had to go to the Urgent Clinic with her daddy to get a strep test done. Sickness has plagued Chris and Madeline, but not Savannah and I. So, off the two of them went. After about an hour apart, the phone rang and there they were, making their trek back home. Not two seconds after they called, Savannah grabbed the phone and immediately, she and Madeline were chatting away on Facetime.
These girls are only 5 year olds and are already the very best of friends. They can't stand to be a moment apart from each other!! The love of twins is strong...as is the love of this momma to these two sweet girls!!

First Day of School - Kindergarten
Today, the girls started school. All summer long - actually, all year long - the girls have been talking about finally getting to go to Spalding and wear "umiforms". There was zero anxiety about starting Kindergarten for these two!
We opted to keep them both in the same classroom this year...with no plans of separating them. I mean seriously....who could separate these two?? They laid their clothes out the night before, and were up EARLY, ready to start their adventure!! Chris and I both walked them in to the school.
We walked them into their classroom and they did great. Savannah needed to suddenly go potty...of course...and made me stick my hand around the door so that she could see that I was still there. Their teacher was unbelievably awesome.....said to me that her daughter had done the same thing to her that morning, and she was in 4th grade. We were able to grab her, Mrs. Arner, and get a pic of the girls with their new teacher!
Savannah used a few other stall factors while Madeline happily ran around to her side of the table and sat right across from her new friend Bindershka! Savannah talked to the teacher's aide as we finally made out exit.
Unbelievably so, there were no tears! Not from them, and not from me! Just two happy girls starting Kindergarten and a life full of memories and learning!
No tears until I drove downtown and passed The Children's Discovery Museum. That's when it happened. I saw the rooftop where we used to play....and I broke down. My babies are growing up. Thank God above they are still small enough to want to go play on that Discovery Museum rooftop. We better get on that soon.

Kindergarten
I know, I know. I will look back on this 10 years from now and say "Oh goodness. Kindergarten...and you thought they were so 'big'? Now they have their learners permit and are driving me around town. Now THAT's big, overdramatic momma...''
So, I will treasure this tiny aged milestone in their lives. Tonight, sleeping soundly in their pink and purple colored bedrooms, I still have two tiny little 32 pound 41" tall twin girls that say "umiforms" instead of "uniforms," and "wivving room" instead of "living room." They will likely be the shortest in their class for years to come...sorry about that girls. But, it is still undeniable that I have a little ache in my heart when the thought of them starting real school...the kind that is the real "required-by-law" deal....next August becomes reality. We put in their application and paid the fees today, and have only 6 months until it all starts, and once they do start that very first day of "real" school...... they are off to the races...for the rest of their lives!
My prayer and hope is that I prepared them for this. My prayer and hope is that when they get into that first day of the real "required-by-law" deal school that they will know how to do the right thing when the kid next to them pressures them to act up and misbehave. My prayer is that when another kid is off in the corner with their head hanging low because no one is talking to him or her, that they will walk over and make a new friend. My prayer is that when insults are thrown and feelings are hurt, as we all know happens in school, that my girls aren't the ones doing it, but are the ones that rise to that child's defense and play no part in being the thrower of insults.
This is more important to me than how well they read. This is more important to me than how well they spell. And this is way more important to me than how well they dress or if their hair is fixed just right. My prayer is that my girls always get that too.
So, while I deal with the overly dramatic emotions I feel today after signing my little girls up for Kindergarten, I thank God for the blessing of my growing girls. I thank God for each day he has granted me to be their mother for the past 5 years. And I thank God for the joys I know lie ahead when they skip off down that road that begins a race of school to career for many, many years to come. They are His precious children...and He has big plans for both of them. I can't wait to see what He has in store for my two growing baby girls.
