Paci

Savannah just may have given up her paci today. This is a big deal.  No this is a HUGE deal.  This morning, out of the blue, Savannah told Chris and I that she wanted to give her paci to a boy at church today.  So, in she walked to Sabbath School, holding that little pink and white paci in her tiny little hand, with the most precious expression on her face...she was looking everywhere for a little boy she could give her paci to.  She spotted one, and later had ME give it to him....I passed it to Chris who passed it to the little boy's daddy (who had been informed of what was going on).  She was so proud!  WE were so proud!  All through church, she never asked for the paci.(Monumental).  She got into the car, never asking for it once.  (Monumental.) And, we were over at the neighbors house this afternoon and she never asked for the paci once while across the street!  But then came nap time....she laid down, softly asked for it, then got a little louder.  We kept explaining to her that she gave it away - no more paci!  She screamed more...I gave her a sticker for giving up the paci, only to more screams.  I shut the door to hear Madeline laying beside Savannah say "Paci BOY, sissy!!!!" as Savannah's screams got louder.  I stood at the door with a spare paci in my hand, just waiting.......should I go in?  I could hear Madeline trying to soothe her..."Paci boy, Sissy....Paci boy!"

Just before I was about to open the door and hand her a paci, the screaming turned into pitiful sobs, then turned into quietness.....she fell asleep.  Without her paci.  In less than 10 minutes.  Huge. Huge. HUGE.  Maybe, before the age of 3, Savannah has given up the paci!!!  We'll see....

UPDATE:  It's gone!!!  She got it back, and a week later, literally handed it to us and that was it.  Not a fuss, fell asleep without it, gone.  Gone!  How did that happen so easily!   A lesson learned in not sweating the things we're afraid they'll never grow out of.
