After an absolutely beautiful 2 mile walk around the pond, we loaded up the car with two incredibly happy babies and a worn out dog.
On our drive home, we passed a Mexican restaurant and decided that with such content, happy baby girls in the backseat, we could just run in for a quick bite to eat! My sweet husband figured since it was his day off, we would give me a day off from cooking!! We sat at the table and even sent out picture texts to family of how adventurous we were feeling taking the girls out to dinner! When my dad wrote back "brave", we sent another close-up pic of Savannah with the sweetest, most innocent look on her face and said "how could a face like that ever cause trouble!" or something like that. WELL, that's what we get for "bragging" about how easy this was going to be....
For the next 20 minutes, Chris and I were both sitting at the table bouncing two babies....each of us holding one. We were standing. We were walking with them. I was even in the bathroom trying to feed them. Anything to get them to stop crying! One would stop crying and the other would start. We were switching babies back and forth. Everyone was looking at us, but they were smiling...we knew what they were thinking "that poor couple with twins!!" ha ha! For once, we gave the public a glimpse into the life of a family with twin babies as we ate and tried consoling two babies at the same time. This is normal for us....but felt very abnormal out in public. Like the babies knew any difference....come on now.... ha ha!
The best part was that Chris and I just laughed. We laughed and smiled and really had a good time with it. We knew it was humorous to watch. We knew the girls were causing a scene. And, we knew that it was not going to be a peaceful dinner out like we had thought, (what were we thinking?!) but it was fun anyway. We were making memories!!!!!!
For so long, we dreaded going out to dinner for fear of exactly what happened tonight. We would always ask for a table in the back. We would give the girls paci's trying our hardest to keep them happy so they would not cause a scene. For the first time, the girls caused more than a scene. And now that its happened, we've gotten that out of the way, we can now relax and be ready for many more "embarrassing" dinners out that are all about making memories with our precious,
