One of the biggest fears I had about having babies was the whole "nursing" part. I just could not imagine nursing in public...or even in the privacy of my own home if anyone, I mean ANYONE was around! It just seemed so unnatural and any peek of what I was doing would have been an indecent exposure!
Now that I am 5 1/2 months into this, I simply cannot imagine not nursing my girls. We had a tough, really tough time getting started. Because they were preemies, they required extra care and attention in their growth and abilities. Now, you would not even be able to tell they were preemies...unless of course you ask their age. Then their weight indicates that they are a month or so behind! But my goodness are they just the most beautiful, precious, smart, quick learners that ever was. I am so proud of my little munchkins.
While we were on vacation this week, we went to a restaurant and the screaming began. I mean full force. Madeline was starved! So, out comes the "Hooter Hiders". Yes, the "Hooter Hiders" is exactly what it's called. Google it. It is the best invention to man...(woman). While Chris was holding Savannah who was also not a happy camper, and I was nursing Madeline in the restaurant, I knew we had arrived. No more embarrassing moments...no more being too cautious to go anywhere for fear that something like this might happen. I was incredibly discrete...so much so that my server nor anyone around had any clue what I was doing and I was able to eat at the same time. But, I was taking care of my child's need, and that was what was most important to me....NOT worrying about what everyone else would think.
