Growing Fast at 16 Weeks

At sixteen weeks old today, the girls let me know they still had much, much more growing to do. There are nights when Madeline and Savannah will sleep from 9:00 PM to sometimes 7:00 AM. But not last night. Last night was a major, major growth spurt night. One of my girls would wake up and I would think "it's just her...not going to wake the other up..." and after feeding the first, I would lay her down and an hour later, the other would wake up. This went on ALL NIGHT LONG!!! Chris had to be out of the house at 6:30 AM to pick up his parents from the airport, and somehow (we figured) the girls knew that we both needed sleep last night and just wanted to remind us that they are still growing, fast and strong, here in their 16th week of life! No matter how little sleep we got (including the girls), it's so funny to me how the girls just smile and smile and smile.....they don't complain - once their needs are met of course - about the early hours. They are just happy to see their mommy and daddy no matter what time it is.

I was reminded by someone who's children are now grown that I need to cherish these tiring moments....that one day, I'll be remembering the days when I would get up in the middle of the night and spend those silent moments nursing my girls and long for those days (or nights I guess I should say). So, with my sleepy eyes and aching head that tells me I got no sleep last night, I will look into the bright, cheerful eyes of my babies this morning and smile, knowing that these moments are sure to be some of the best moments of my life.
